Texas Man Stages Pig Races to Protest Islamic Neighbor's Plans to Build Mosque - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News

This is a funny story (thanks Joel) but underscores a serious message -- the complete intolerance of devout Muslims of "the other", whether of a pig farmer neighbor (who was there first!) or Muslim cabbies in Minneapolis unwilling to drive people carrying sealed bottles of alcohol or seeing eye (or other) dogs.

Many Muslims might want some of the things we want -- a well-fed and happy family, a safe home -- but they also are different from us, and too many of the more devout of them are incapable of a "live and let live" mentality, and are unwilling to wait until "the end of days" for the truth and the righteous to be sorted out -- they want to sort it out right now, and you are in the path of their destrcutive force.

Obsession: The Most Compelling Movie Today detailing Islamist Extremism

If at all possible, see this movie, and send the attached link around to friends (Obsession). It continues to collect accolades for its clearheaded cataloging of the threat we and our children face.

Mubarak hints: We’ll develop nukes

More fallout from the world's complicity in the development of the Iranian nuclear weapon and missile program. What is the Western World's spinelessness going to cost all of us in terms of further Middle Eastern instability, and possible global disaster, if Iran is not forced to stop? Where are oil prices going to eventually go as a result of all of this?

"During summit with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Egyptian president hints that if Iran attains nukes, Egypt will have to also in order to defend itself. Up until now Egypt has claimed its nuclear program was for energy purposes only" Mubarak hints: We’ll develop nukes - News from Israel, Ynetnews

Debate Over the Status of Shi'ites in Egypt

See the attached article (MEMRI: Shi'ites in Egypt) from Memri.org regarding the status of Shi-ism in Egypt, a predominantly Sunni country, where rising Islamist sentiment threatens the current order over the next 5 years, and increased tensions with Shiites could spill all over the Middle East (I go back to my long held view that Egypt, as the most populous Middle Eastern Sunni country, has an interest in what happens in Iraq, especially if it helps Shiite Iran). See also my September 27th posting from Vanity Fair, "The Egyptian Volcano", which is perhaps more scintillating reading.
